Visual Designer for the Marching Arts
Kevin Nevsimal is a visual designer, instructor, adjudicator, and music educator from Wheaton, IL. His show designs are as equally functional as they are innovative, which provides success for ensembles of all sizes and ability levels.
Kevin graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.A. in Music Education. He was a middle school band director for 3 years in the Chicago suburbs. Kevin was the drum major of the NIU Huskie Marching Band during his sophomore and junior year. He also played contra with The Colts in 2003 and mellophone with The Cavaliers from 2004 to 2008.
During his junior year of college, Kevin began writing drill for the NIU Marching Band while he was the drum major. Within a few years, he was writing drill for several competitive programs in the state of Illinois and a few years after that he was designing for bands across the country. Since then, he has designed shows for ensembles of all sizes and skill levels. Kevin also works closely on both custom and stock drill design for Key Poulan Music.
Kevin has been a frequent clinician and adjudicator at marching band competitions in the Midwest.
Kevin has been an instructor with several marching bands from the Chicagoland area including Lake Park High School, Minooka High School, and Wheaton Warrenville South High School. He has been the visual designer and visual caption head for Chromium Winds, the WGI Winds Independent Open Champions in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
When he isn't teaching band or writing drill Kevin enjoys running (finished 3 Tough Mudders!), Apple products, taking trips to Disney World with his wife Kelly, and playing with his cat, Nala.
